How to Order Our Pasture-Raised Beef

Understanding the Quantities: Whole, 1/2, and Quarter Side

Navigate beef quantities effortlessly with Dilday Ranch's options: Whole, 1/2, and Quarter Side. Whether you're stocking up for a feast or seeking a smaller portion, our flexible offerings cater to your needs.

  • Whole Cow: Ordering a whole cow means you'll be receiving the entire animal, providing you with a wide variety of cuts and ample quantities of beef to last for an extended period.

  • 1/2 Side of Beef: Opting for a 1/2 side of beef will give you half of the animal, offering a substantial selection of cuts that can cater to the needs of a smaller household or those with limited freezer space.

  • Quarter Side of Beef: A quarter side of beef provides a more modest portion, ideal for individuals or smaller families looking to enjoy high-quality beef without the need for excessive storage space.

Customizing Your Order

When placing an order for a whole, 1/2, or quarter side of beef, you can work with our knowledgeable team to customize your cuts to suit your preferences. Consider the following aspects to personalize your order:

  • Steak Preferences: Let us know which types of steaks you enjoy most, such as ribeye, T-bone, sirloin, filet mignon, or others. We can accommodate your preferences based on the available cuts.

  • Roast Selection: Inform us of your preferred roasts, such as chuck roast, rump roast, brisket, or others, and we will include them accordingly.

  • Ground Beef Quantity: Specify your desired quantity of ground beef. This versatile option is perfect for various recipes, such as burgers, meatballs, and more.

  • Specialty Cuts: If you have a preference for specialty cuts like short ribs, flank steak, skirt steak, or others, kindly let us know, and we will do our best to fulfill your request based on availability.

Butcher Processing

After placing your order, the next step is sending the beef to the butcher for processing and cutting. Here are a few key considerations during this phase:

  • Communication: It is essential to establish clear communication with your chosen butcher. Inform them about your order, desired cuts, and any specific instructions you may have.

  • Cutting Instructions: Provide detailed cutting instructions to the butcher, specifying the thickness of steaks, desired roast sizes, and any other specifics you want for your beef. This ensures that the butcher processes the meat to your exact specifications.

  • Packaging and Labeling: Discuss packaging preferences with the butcher, such as individual or bulk packaging, and any special labeling requirements you may have.

  • Butcher Expertise: Select a trusted butcher with experience in handling and processing beef. Their expertise will ensure that your beef is cut and packaged professionally, maintaining its quality and freshness.

Freezer / Storage

Before ordering a whole, half, or quarter side of beef, it's crucial to assess your freezer or storage capacity at home. Consider the following points:

  • Freezer Space: Determine if your freezer has enough room to accommodate the quantity of beef you plan to purchase. A whole cow requires the most storage space, while a quarter side of beef requires less.  Ensure that your freezer has adequate space to store the beef safely without overcrowding.

  • Storage Options: If you don't have a large freezer, consider alternative storage options such as chest freezers, standalone freezers, or sharing freezer space with family or friends. Assessing your storage capacity in advance helps ensure you can properly preserve your beef without compromising its quality.

  • Organization: If you're purchasing a larger portion, it's beneficial to plan how you'll organize and label the different cuts in your freezer. Consider using freezer-safe storage bags or containers and labeling them with the cut and date for easy identification and retrieval.

By verifying your freezer or storage capacity, you can ensure that you have enough space to store your beef properly, keeping it at optimal quality until you're ready to enjoy it. Remember, our team is available to assist you in estimating the space required based on the portion size you choose, providing guidance on storage options, and answering any questions you may have regarding beef storage and preservation.
